In a reply to an NGO statement published in REDD-Monitor – http://www.redd-monitor.org/2010/03/16/ngo-statement-raises-concerns-about-democratic-republic-of-congos-readiness-preparation-proposal/#more-4316 - I outline concerns about how participation and governance issues are being dealt with in the REDD process in the DRC. Issues pertaining to social feasibility remain largely unspecified, or reliant on consultation processes that historically have not proven capacble of guaranteeing that local stakeholders are well prepared to participate, and that they are well represented at key fora where major decisions are made.
